Declare Independence
A Manifesto Against
Independence For The Few:
1. Don't be an asshole. If you identify with any of the following:
White
Cisgender
Heterosexual
Steady income
Home owner
Healthy
Have health insurance
Recognize that YOUR independence is not EVERYONE’S independence
2. Consider plant-based substitutes for your beef burgers, hot dogs
and dairy-based casseroles. If you didn’t kill it yourself, leave it alone.
This especially applies to all you who think gun control is leftist propaganda
to take away your independence.
3. Regardless of what you eat, do not throw away your food. Invite a
neighbor. Make a meal for someone who doesn’t have access to a meal. Make extra
food and take it to a shelter.
4. Take a moment and reflect. What can I be doing to share
independence with all folx in the US? How can I truly make this country a
shared community of free people?
5. Give reparations to black people.
6. Fight for women’s rights.
7. Fight for the protection of families, the Christian, the HUMANE
thing to do. Get on board with stopping the Trump regime from the terror of
separating families.
8. Take action. Mark at least one protest in your calendar. The
protest that fights for human rights, not dismantles them.
9. Get into nature. Thank Mother Earth for her divine providence. Or,
at least thank her for providing the materials for your house, your furniture,
your lawn, your food, your breath.
10. Listen to independent music. Independent studios.
11. Go to a museum without a phone. Soak it in.
12. Tell someone that you appreciate and love them.
13. Put down the fireworks. You wouldn’t cook the dog over the grill,
but yet, you terrorize them.
14. Reconnect with old lovers, friends, family. Say, hello. Then,
listen.
15. Realize that this tyranny only lives in a singular moment, a hot
second, of who we are, where we are and where we’re going. Breathe.
16. Stop judging others for things outside of their control.
17. Accept queerness. It was here long before your kin’s ass landed on
Plymouth Rock.
18. Vote. That’s the truly independent thing to do.
